How to resolve the “God of War slow verifying” issue

There is a solution. This is a simple fix that many users have confirmed works. This is the Steam user /JungleJim.

God of Wartaking forever to verify/unpack. To fix:

  1. Go to Windows 10 settings
  2. Click on Update & Security
  3. From the left sidebar, select Windows Security
  4. Click on the Virus & Threat Protection button
  5. Click on Manage settings under Virus & Threat Protection
  6. Click on Exclusions to add or remove exclusions
  7. Click on Add an Exclusion
  8. Choose Folder
  9. Add the steamapps folder
  10. Stop the Steam download
  11. Restart it
