Is your error message saying “expired credentials” in New World? Don’t worry, we got you.

New World – Refreshed Credentials Expired – How to Fix this Error

It is finally here. New World is now available for the public. The full version is not available. Preordering New World on Steam will give you access to the Closed Beta. “New World Closed Beta” will also appear in your Steam Game Library. It is possible that it might be hidden in your Library because of filters or that Steam needs to restart completely due to a common cache problem.

People have been making mistakes since the Closed Beta. There is no reason to panic. Betas are meant to help developers get feedback. Amazon Games released a beta version of their game, which I find very encouraging. This would allow the developers to get real feedback. They would also have plenty of time to address any issues before the full game is released. The New World Closed Beta will begin on July 20th at 9:30AM PST (4:30PM UTC) and continue through August 2nd at 11:59M PST (6:59AM UTC).

Let’s now get to the point. Many Steam users are seeing an error message in New World saying that their refreshed credentials have expired. This issue is currently being addressed by many Closed Beta testers. These are just a few of the many posts that have been made on the forums:

Already expiredhow do you fix it?

The question now is: Can this be fixed? Let’s see.

How to fix this error

There is a way out, and it’s much simpler than you might think. Do not let this error fool you. The solution comes from /Chef. He posted it on New World’s Steam discussion page:

It was fixed on mine. My Time on my PC was wrong so ensure your clocks are in the correct timezone. It worked for me, but I’m not sure if it will work the same for others.

To fix this error, you only need to:

  1. Go to Windows Settings
  2. Choose Time & Language
  3. Choose Date and Time from the left sidebar
  4. Click on the “Sync Now” button under “Synchronize Your Clock”.

This should work. This fix has been tested by numerous users. You can see the feedback of those who have tried it.

These comments will confirm the legitimacy of your fix. If you are still not satisfied, you can verify the New World game files via Steam. After synchronizing your time, make sure to restart your computer. To ensure that your changes are still valid, check the time again after restarting.
